Defend your plot of lentils
The phrase "Defend Your Plot of Lentils" comes from 2 Samuel 23:11–12, where Shammah, one of King David's mighty men, stood his ground and defended a field of lentils when others fled before the enemy. Though the field may have appeared ordinary and insignificant, Shammah faithfully protected what had been entrusted to him, and the Lord gave him a great victory.
This account reminds us that faithfulness is not measured by the size or importance of the task, but by our willingness to steward well what God has placed in our care. Whether our calling seems large or small, visible or unseen, we are called to stand firm, serve diligently, and honor the Lord with what He has given us. Defend Your Plot of Lentils is a reminder to faithfully tend and protect the work, relationships, gifts, and opportunities entrusted to us, trusting God to bring the increase.
